This is the first episode of Fate/Twilight Dawn the second senerio in my Fate/Stay Night fic. This begins during the same time as FST but covers what would have happened if Kawaru had made a key decision differently.
*A young girl and two boys are playing together on the beach*
Girl: Hey Jack, Kawaru we should come back here again all three of us.
Kawaru: Yeah, that sounds like a great idea!
Jack: Let’s come back tomorrow.
*The girl smile and looks at the two with a sad expression. Tears begin to well up in her big brown eyes and her shoulder length hair covers her face. She then begins to sob*
Girl: I’m sorry you two, I can’t come tomorrow.
Kawaru: It’s okay Sako, we can just come back next weekend.
Sako: No, we can’t not the three of us.
Jack: What do you mean?
Sako: I’m moving away tomorrow. I’ll be going to America with my parents.
*Jack and Kawaru stare at Sako*
Jack: N—
~~~~~~
*Suddenly a loud ringing is heard and Kawaru sits up in his bed sweating*
Kawaru: That’s right. That was the last time the three of us played together. After that she moved to America and we lost contact. I wonder if I’ll ever see her again.
*Kawaru gets out of bed and gets dressed he was wearing casual attire jeans and sweatshirt. He walks into the kitchen and begins to fry an egg*
Kawaru: This’ll be the last time I can relax like this for a while I guess I should enjoy it. *He says as he looks at a letter on his dinning room table*
The time for the Holy Grail war is coming.
It’s time to summon you’re familiar.
Remember that it’s the Tosaka that raised you after your
parents died you have a responsibility to win.
Failure is not an option.
*Kawaru sighs as he reads the note*
Kawaru: Well I suppose it is why they raised me as a magus. I owe it to them to bring them the Holy Grail. But first…time to enjoy my last day of freedom.
*Kawaru puts on his shoes and grabs his Oracle Knife from the counter just to be safe. Leaves the house, which is about a ten-minute walk from a nearby mall. As he lounges around on a bench looking at the sky he hears a voice…*
: Hey Kawaru! What’s up being lazy again?
*Kawaru looks at the approaching figure. A male about his age with brown hair approaches.*
Kawaru: Huh? Jack what are you doing here?
Jack: Enjoying my Sunday. Since you’re hanging out here you must have noticed.
Kawaru: Noticed what?
*Jack looks at him with a astonished and appalled look then places his hand on Kawaru’s shoulder*
Jack: You must truly live a sheltered life not to have noticed. Just look around you.
*Kawaru looks around then realizes what Jack is getting at.*
Jack: Look at all of the magnificent beauties here. This is the ideal place to pick up chicks!
Kawaru: I’m amazed no one has called the cops on you yet.
Jack: You try to shrug me off with sarcasm but I can tell you’re the same! We are partners in our quest to find a delicate flower to brighten our lives!
*A bead of sweat drops down Kawaru’s temple*
Kawaru: Good luck with that.
Jack: Oh come on you know you wanna come with me. See there’s a perfect target.
*Kawaru looks up and see a girl about his age with blond hair and a noticeably large bust passing by*
Jack: Target locked.
Kawaru: Forget it.
Jack: Why?
Kawaru: Simple she’s way out of you’re league. She’s likely from an upscale family based on her posture, the quiet dignity in her stride means she’s likely intelligent and with looks like that if she doesn’t already have a boyfriend, she’s not looking for one.
*Jack wags his finger at Kawaru*
Jack: Kawaru you underestimate me.
Kawaru: You’re batting record with average girls is already low someone like that will send you down in flames.
*Jack wasn’t even listening and goes and talks to the girl after about a minute a large impact is heard and Jack is lying on the ground the girl glares at him. She then looks up at Kawaru they make eye contact and he feels a shiver run down his spine. Then she turns and leaves*
Kawaru: Well…I guess I should make sure he’s still alive.
*Kawaru walks over to Jack and kicks him in the head. Jack immediately sits up and shakes his head around*
Jack: Who kicked me?
Kawaru: No one? You must have been dreaming.
Jack: Oh okay. By the way Kawaru I need a favor can you come to my house for a bit?
Kawaru: Sure.
*Kawaru follows Jack he was expecting to be led to the Mato mansion which he had been to many times through out his long friendship with Jack but instead Jack leads him to a high class hotel*
Kawaru: What’s here?
Jack: Well to tell you the truth I moved out about a week ago. I live here now.
Kawaru: Really? That’s quite impressive. Though you know you could always come stay with me if you really wanted to.
Jack: That’s actually part of the reason I asked you to come.
*Kawaru and Jack enter the main lobby, which is lavished with fine decorations and has a very upper class feel to it. They take the elevator to the top floor, and get out*
Kawaru: Wow the penthouse I’m impressed.
Jack: Well your home is nothing to be laughed at either, you suddenly came back a year ago and started living in that fancy house alone. Though it’s nice to have you back I was worried you’d go and disappear like…Sako did.
*Kawaru puts his hand on Jacks head as Jack looks down dejected*
Jack: Thanks Kawaru.
Kawaru: Sure, anyways what do you want to show me in here?
*Jack opens the door and Kawaru’s jaw drops in the dead center of the room sits a summoning circle*
Kawaru: Jack, you’re a magus?!
Jack: So you recognize this huh? I guess that means your one as well.
Kawaru: Well technically I’m a construct, but yeah I’m preparing to compete in the war as well.
Jack: I want to partner up with you for the war, I had a hunch you were competing.
*Kawaru sighs Jack always did act quickly but it would be good to have an ally for the war so he nods*
Jack: Good, so I guess it’s time to summon my servant.
Kawaru: What are you using as a catalyst?
Jack: This.
*Jack holds up a necklace that looks very similar to a shark tooth necklace*
Kawaru: Isn’t that?
Jack: Yup.
Kawaru: I’m sure she’d be happy.
Jack: I hope so.
*Jack places the necklace into the middle of the summoning circle and kneels down placing his left hand on the summoning circle*
Jack: Come forth my servant.
*There is a brilliant glow and a crimson symbol appears along Jack’s left arm. As the light begins to dim Kawaru can see a figure standing on the circle looking at Jack. She had long brown hair and a slender yet athletic frame, here eyes were locked on Jack and she wore something that resembled hide armor though the hide of what was difficult to surmise. As she stares at Jack she speaks*
Servant: Are you my master?
Jack: Yes I am.
Servant: I am servant Archer and from this day until the end of the war I shall be your arrow.
Jack: Nice to meet you Archer.
Archer: Yes master.
*Suddenly Archer notices Kawaru and draws her bow then aims it at him*
Archer: Those who see us must be erased.
Jack: Don’t worry he’s one of the seven he just hasn’t summoned his servant yet.
Archer: I understand.
*She puts away her bow. Then glances at Jack and Kawaru with a bit of a disappointed look*
Jack: What’s with that look? Do you disapprove of us?
Archer: Not at all, I was just surprised my master was forming and alliance without knowing his allies servant.
Kawaru: We’re forming this alliance because we have a mutual trust, since we grew up together.
Archer: I understand.
Jack: So which hero are you?
Archer: It won’t do you any good to know and you knowing may hurt our chances of winning the war so I feel it would be better for me not to tell you.
Jack: But then I have no idea how strong you are.
Archer: Knowing my identity wouldn’t help you with that. You will simply have to gauge my power after you see me fight.
*Jack lets out a disapproving sigh*
Kawaru: What’s wrong Jack? You always preferred to fly by the seat of your pants anyways.
*Kawaru laughs at he places a hand on Jack’s head*
Jack: Yeah, but I’ve never been in this kind of circumstance before.
Kawaru: True, oh well we still need to summon my servant.
*Kawaru looks out the window and sighs*
Kawaru: It’s gotten dark out do you mind if I stay here tonight and we go to my house tomorrow to summon my servant?
Archer: You certainly are relaxed about it.
Kawaru: No one’s going to attack an empty house besides mine is heavily defended with traps ect.
Archer: I understand.
Jack: Well I suppose I don’t see the harm in it.
Kawaru: Ok good.
*Kawaru walks over to the couch and lays down on it*
Kawaru: We’ll start coming up with a strategy tomorrow when we know what my servant is.
Jack: Sounds good, well time to hit the hay good night.
*Archer nods and enters spirit form, Kawaru opens one eye*
Kawaru: Hey Jack.
Jack: Yeah?
Kawaru: I know your servant’s hot and all but don’t molest her okay?
*Jack shoots up in his bed and glares at Kawaru*
Jack: I wasn’t even thinking about that!
Kawaru: Yeah, yeah.
Jack: Well the same goes to you.
Kawaru: We’ll see.
Jack: You a real bastard sometimes you know?
Kawaru: That’s more just when I’m picking on you.
*Jack lays back down and pulls the covers over himself*
Jack: Hypocrite.
*Kawaru had already closed his eyes and was beginning to drift off into sleep*
~The next morning~
*Kawaru gets up, yawns, and stretches his arms. He looks over at Jack who was still sleeping. He then walks into the bathroom gets a glass of warm water walks over to the bed and carefully pours it onto the lower half. He then goes back into the bathroom puts back the glass and shakes Jack awake*
Jack: Huh? Kawaru what’s up?
*After a second Jack realizes there is wet patch on his bed and he immediately jumps out of bed. Kawaru pretends to just notice the wet spot and grins*
Kawaru: Wow Jack, to still have a problem like that at this age.
Jack: How could that happen? I haven’t wet the bed since I was a little kid.
*Kawaru shrugs his shoulders*
Kawaru: I don’t know maybe you were nervous for today.
Jack: This is so embarrassing I’ve gotta hide these before Archer sees them.
Kawaru: She probably already has.
Jack: What?
*Jack hugs his knees and begins to sulk in the corner when suddenly he realizes his pants aren’t wet. He then turns to Kawaru with an agitated expression*
Jack: You tricked me!
Kawaru: Yup, but it’s your fault for falling for it.
*Jack glares at Kawaru*
Kawaru: Any ways let’s go get something to e—
*Kawaru stops mid sentence as he walks into the other room of the suite he realizes Archer has already prepared a full meal*
Kawaru: Wow, I didn’t know that servants could cook.
Jack: Neither did I but let’s eat.
*Archer sets down the food and welcomes the two*
Archer: Please eat.
*Both Kawaru and Jack nod and then sit down with eager expressions as they begin to eat*
Jack: The two of us haven’t eaten with a girl like this since Sako was here.
*Jack says while piling food onto his plate*
Kawaru: That’s true, it’s also kinda sad.
Jack: Yeah, you shoulda gotten a girlfriend.
*Kawaru sighs*
Kawaru: Yeah you’re probably right.
Jack: Well I guess it’s okay, you and Sako still have that promise don’t you?
*Jack comments his mouth full of food*
Kawaru: Yeah I do.
Archer: Who is this Sako?
*Jack swallows and looks over at Archer*
Jack: That’s right you wouldn’t know, Sako is a childhood friend of Kawaru and me. We always used to play together but then she moved away, after a while Kawaru did as well but he came back a while ago and we started hanging out again.
Archer: I see.
Kawaru: This is very good by the way.
*Kawaru was indicating the food. Archer smiles slightly and watches the two of them eat*
Kawaru: Once we’re done let’s go to my house so I can summon my servant.
Jack: Yeah, that’s a good plan.
*The three finish eating and leave the room they slowly walk to the elevator and Archer enters spirit form. Jack extends his hand and presses the down button. They enter the elevator and ride it to the main floor*
Kawaru: So where should we stay anyways?
Jack: Well your house is bigger and more secure so let’s stay there.
*Kawaru nods as they exit the building*
Kawaru: Well let’s take a taxi.
*Kawaru calls a taxi and he and Jack take it to his home*
Kawaru: Well welcome to my home.
Jack: Nice I haven’t been here much since you came back.
Kawaru: Yeah that’s cause I don’t like letting people wander around it.
Jack: Makes sense.
*Kawaru opens the front door and lets Jack in. He then immediately unlocks the door to the basement and goes down. In his basement sits a summoning circle similar to the one in Jack’s room, Kawaru takes out a silver pendant and places it in the circle and sets it in the center he then runs his mana into the circle*
Kawaru: Come forth servant I command thee.
*There is a brilliant white light and a command spell appears on Kawaru’s right hand. When he looks at the circle a blonde knight in standing there he looks at Kawaru and blinks a few times*
Servant: I am Rider are you my master?
Kawaru: Yes I am.
Rider: Okay then nice to meet you.
Kawaru: Same. So which hero are you?
*Rider shrugs his shoulders*
Rider: You’ll find out when you need to it’s not important right now.
Kawaru: Of course it is.
Rider: Not really.
*Kawaru lets out an agitated sigh*
Jack: Well now that you’ve summoned your servant let’s go discuss the plan.
Kawaru: It won’t do us much good to do that if we don’t know who either servant is.
Jack: Well I suppose that’s true enough.
Archer: That sounds like a good plan.
Rider: Are we working with Archer or something?
Kawaru: Yes, Archer’s master and I have been friends since we were kids so we decided to work together in this war to increase our chances of winning.
