~The Einzberg Mansion~
Kalonis: Who is the other person you're planning on using at the vessel for the grail?
Sakaki: We'll go and see her tonight.
Kalonis: Hmmm?
*Sakaki walks up what remained of the staircase*
Sakaki: Such a waste to destroy such a grand hall just for the sake of two stupid children.
Kalonis: That is the type of person Lancer was.
Sakaki: I suppose we had originally intended to manipulate Aylia, but she chose to use the black feather as a catalyst rather than the one we provided her.
Kalonis: Yes, Lancer may have been a stronger servant but he was certainly much simpler to deal with.
Sakaki: So true.

~Kawaru's house the next morning Day:7~
*Kawaru gets out of bed and looks around suddenly his door swings open and Kazuto come running in again*
Kawaru: Did you accidentally peep on Aylia again?
Kazuto: No...
*Suddenly Archer appears she was still in a towel and Kazuto runs behind Kawaru*
Kazuto: Aylia I can deal with but there's no way I'm gonna fight another servant, I promised Caster.
Kawaru: Now Archer calm down.
Archer: I am calm, I merely wished to tell him that breakfast had already been prepared.
*With that Archer turns around and returns to the bathroom. Kazuto watches her leave his face was flushed*
Kazuto: Archer is beautiful. She reminds me a little of Caster.
Kawaru: Yeah she's a lot less prone to violence than Aylia is; she's more mature.
Aylia: Is that so?
Kawaru: Aylia?
*Aylia had been passing by Kawaru's room when he had said this and had over heard him*
Aylia: Well excuse me for being childish.
*Aylia looks away and walks downstairs in a huff*
Kazuto: Is every morning this eventful?
Kawaru: More or less.
Kazuto: I don't know whether I should be envious or glad I'm not you.
Kawaru: You live here now to so you're in more or less the same situation.
*Kazuto looks at Kawaru a little surprised*
Kazuto: I'm not referring to that. You really are sorta dense in some respects aren't you?
Kawaru: I really don't need to hear that from you.
*Kazuto exits the room and Kawaru waits for Archer to go downstairs then goes and takes his shower, and also heads down for breakfast to find Kazuto talking with Saber*
Saber: I suppose as long as Aylia's still here it's no problem.
Kazuto: Really? Thanks!
Kawaru: What's up?
Saber: Kazuto requested that I help him in his sword training.
Kawaru: Kazuto didn't you decide you wouldn't battle servants anymore?
Kazuto: That's only for the war if it's just training it's fine.
*Kawaru sighs*
Kawaru: Whatever.
*The meal passes quickly; Kazuto and Saber go outside and begin to practice. Aylia has a very grim look on her face*
Kawaru: Don't tell me you're still mad Aylia.
Aylia: No, it's about Lancer's master. I can't make sense of what happened last night. I mean they clearly had the edge why did she just up and quit after being so determined to end the battle with us.
Kawaru: Well I don't think that was just a whim. It seemed like that call she received was very important.
Aylia: But still...
Kawaru: I think Serena was being manipulated the whole time.
Aylia: What do you mean?
Kawaru: From the sounds of it, she's been fighting for her brother this whole time. Sakaki probably told her that the grail was the only way to cure his illness.
Aylia: It probably was if he could have been cured through other means the Einzbergs would have done it.
Kawaru: But isn't it magus tradition for only the first born to be considered worthy?
Aylia: Yes.
Kawaru: The Einzbergs probably didn't think he was worth saving.
Aylia: That's cruel.
Kawaru: Yeah but the main magus families tend to be like that. The Tohsakas had two heirs as well and only taught the older one and myself since I already have a magic seal. They refused to use anything magic-like when the younger daughter was around even if it could help her or someone else.
Aylia: To hold so strongly to such an awful tradition.
*Kawaru's features became steely. He sighs and looks at Archer then back to Aylia*
Kawaru: I thought so.
Aylia: What?
Kawaru: Act like a proper magus but I don't think it suits you, or rather I don't think that you fit the "appropriate" mind set of a magus.
*Aylia looks at Kawaru surprised and a little appalled by this statement*
Aylia: Are you saying I'm unfit to be a magus.
Kawaru: You're definitely talented and I'm sure you'd make a good healer but...
Aylia: But what?
Kawaru: You're not cold enough to be a proper magus.
*Aylia's jaw drops and she stands gaping at what Kawaru had just said*
Aylia: What do you mean by that!?
Kawaru: "That's cruel", "awful tradition"? Those aren't things a magus would say.
Aylia:...
Kawaru: Aylia, magi aren't human. We're magus. That means that we pursue knowledge and development above all else. For a Magus, emotions, compassion, even life are secondary to knowledge and honor.
Aylia: You don't honestly believe that.
*A pained smile crosses Kawaru's lips and he looks out the window*
Kawaru: Aylia, ask any real magus if they would trade their life to become omniscient for a day and they would all give you the same answer, yes.
Aylia: Kawaru, what's gotten into you? Archer, something's wrong with him.
Archer: No, what Kawaru says is the truth.
*Aylia looks and the two with pain filled eyes*
Aylia: I thought I had finally escaped it, finally found a few magi with actual sense.
*Aylia's fist clenches and her shoulders shake*
Aylia: Kawaru, I was wrong you're not different! You're just the same as all the other magi; you look for answers but you close your ears to your own emotions!
*Kawaru gets up and looks at Aylia. Her words cut deeper than any blade but these doubts had crossed his mind already*
Kawaru: Aylia...
Aylia: Shut up! It's because of people like you-
*Aylia winces, and tears begin to swell up in her eyes*
Aylia: It's because of people like you that she's dead!
Kawaru: What?
*Aylia turns around tears begin to stream down her face and she dashes out of the house*
Aylia: Saber, let's go.
Saber: ...Aylia.
*Saber immediately abandons his instruction of Kazuto and follows Aylia*
Aylia: I thought I had finally gotten away...
Saber: What's wrong, Aylia?
Aylia: Kawaru is the same as all the other magi. He doesn't care about people he only cares about advancement.
Saber: Aylia, thatfs a normal magus principal, why are you taking it so seriously?
*Aylia stops running she had reached a nearby park and she sat down on a bench*
Aylia: I guess it would be easier to just tell you the story.
*Saber stops and nods at Aylia with a look of surprise*

~Calahan estate 8 years ago~
*A young girl with blue hair is crying in the middle of a grand hall*
: Aylia! Aylia! Where are you!?
*A younger Aylia runs over to her*
Aylia: What's wrong Samantha?
*Samantha immediately grabs onto Aylia's sleeves and buries her face in her chest sobbing*
Aylia: Samantha, you know that you don't have to keep up your magus training.
Samantha: A magus who values herself above advancement is a failure.
*Samantha continues to sob and Aylia wraps her arms around her*
Aylia: Don't worry Samantha you're doing a great job. I'm sure you'll make your parents proud.
Samantha: Thank you....Aylia.
~~~~~~
Saber: Your friend seems to have a good understanding of the philosophy.
Aylia: Samantha was my childhood friend. She was too kind of a person to follow such a cold-hearted philosophy, but even back then the whole idea didn't bother me much. I just assumed that's how things were and she would eventually get used to it.
~The Magus training chambers 4 years ago~
Teacher: NO! You need to concentrate!
Samantha: Of course, master.
*Samantha's mana manifests in a barrier around her. Her instructor raises a hand chants several verses then a barrage of mana blasts are fired at her. While the dust begins to clear a single radiant mana ray shots out and pierces the master's arm. The master drops to one knee. He smiles*
Teacher: You've improved greatly. You'll definitely be a participant in the next war if you keep this up.
*Samantha smiles and bows*
Samantha: Thank you teacher.
Teacher: You're father has sent me word that he is very proud of what you are.
Samantha: Really?!
Teacher: Yes, he says he can't wait to see how you've progressed.
Samantha: Yay, did you hear that Aylia!?
*Aylia is sitting watching the test she had already passed*
Aylia: You did great, Samantha.
*Samantha runs over and glomps Aylia who pats her on the head*
~~~~~~~
Aylia: Samantha came to terms with her abilities and began to excel as a magus. But that all changed one day.

~The magic association medical hall 2 years ago~
*Samantha is sitting in the hall. One of the Magi comes out speaks with her and shakes his head. Tears soon well up in Samantha's eyes. Aylia walks over concerned for her friend*
Aylia: What's wrong Samantha?
Samantha: My dad...he died.
Aylia: What?!
Samantha: He was researching the cause of the tainted grail and he was attacked and mortally wounded by an unknown magus.
*Unsure what to say Aylia embraces the weeping Samantha*
Samantha: Aylia, I need you to make me a promise.
Aylia: What?
*Samantha suppresses her tears and reaches into her robe and pulls out a black feather. She then hands it to Aylia*
Samantha: If I am unable to participate in the Holy Grail War. I want you to summon a servant with this and destroy the tainted grail in my place.
Aylia: Samantha, what are you talking about? You're going to be able to participate. You've trained hard for all these years so you could be a master.
Samantha: But I need to take my father's place in his research.
Aylia: What are you talking about? If your father who was a top tier magus was killed you can't hope to survive.
Samantha: I know, but a magus doesn't care about their life. All things are second to knowledge.
Aylia: Samantha...
Samantha: Goodbye Aylia.
~~~~~~
Saber: What happened to her?
Aylia: Samantha continued her father's work, I trained hard at the magic association so that I would be able to help her when the time came, but I never got that chance. About a year after the death of her father, Samantha was killed by an unknown magus, the method of death was almost identical to the one used to kill her father.
Saber: So thatfs why you hate that mind set so much...
Aylia: Yeah, that kind of thinking is what led to the death of my best friend.
Saber: I see, that would explain why you reacted to what Kawaru told you the way you did.
Aylia: How do you know what he told me?
Saber: I figured it out based on what you've been saying.
Aylia: Yeah, that's why I can't work with him anymore.
Saber: I think you misunderstood him.
Aylia: Why?
Saber: Kawaru's past from what I understand is rather unpleasant, and he's likely been through mental training to ingrain concepts such as that one into his mind, but looking at his actions I would say that he doesn't believe that ideals he was taught.
Aylia: What do you mean?
Saber: Challenging Rider on his own to keep you out of danger, allowing Kazuto to stay even though it has no real benefit to himself, Kawaru has at times shown judgment that prioritized his personal feelings over the best outcome. That is proof he doesnft hold entirely to the idea life is less than knowledge and honor. Besides either way it isn't wise for us to be roaming around now, it's getting dark we should go back.
*Aylia doesn't move she is deep in thought on what Saber had said*
Sakaki: Well now, isn't that an interesting tale.
*Aylia and Saber both turn and see Sakaki and Kalonis staring them down*
Saber: If you're here that means...
Sakaki: Yes, Lancer is dead.
Aylia: What?!
Saber: Aylia, get behind me.
Sakaki: I'm afraid that won't do. Archer.
Kalonis: Sure.
*Kalonis jumps to the side so that his fire wouldn't hit Aylia, then pulls the trigger on his bow*
Saber: Dammit!
*Saber uses his sword to deflect the barrage of stakes*
Saber: Aylia, I need mana now!
Aylia: I already used the crystal I can't give you more than the normal amount.
Saber: Then Ifll fight him like this.
*Saber dashes straight towards Kalonis deflecting the stakes as they come towards him, however, even Saber is unable to avoid and defend himself against all of the stake and he is pierced through the right hip*
Saber: Hrunting!
*Saber begins using his noble phantasm but stops as soon as he sees Aylia being held by Sakaki*
Sakaki: Well Saber? Why don't you use your noble phantasm? If you do you'll surely defeat both Archer and myself.
Saber: You coward, hiding behind a hostage.
Aylia: Sorry Saber, I didn't think Sakaki could use body double spells and I let my guard down.
*Saber grits his teeth, as Kalonis pulls the trigger on his crossbow again subjecting Saber to another volley of stakes. Saber again manages to deflect many of them but is pierced in the left calf muscle, and winces in pain*
Aylia: Saber run go get Kawaru!
Saber: No, you are my master, I must free you that will take to long.
*As Kalonis is about to fire another volley of stakes Aylia's final command spell glows*
Aylia: Saber appear in front of Kawaru, I command you.
*Aylia uses her final command spell to teleport the injured Saber back to Kawaru's house. Sakaki sighs*
