Never did I realize what your smile meant,
A soft, gentle smile that radiated your beauty,
It always came on when I was near,
But I was just too blind to see.

Never did I realize what you actually said,
You needed a friend to lend an ear,
To be accepted and comforted,
But I was just too deaf to hear.

Never did I realize that you always listened,
You weren’t the one I would seek,
Willing ears to attend to my problems,
But I was just too mute to speak.

Never did I realize what you really felt,
Having pains you could not bear,
To be abandoned by the closest ones,
But I was just too numb to care.

The truest of friends in every way,
I couldn’t bring myself to admit it,
But I was just to shy to say:

Never did I realize what I truly wanted,
Although you were always around,
I was looking for that special person,
And it was you, I finally found.
