Tears

Dry and comfortable, slowly I come to a stop And look up into the sky foreboding tears. Dark gray clouds are cast to each horizon. You could smell it in the air; the rain nears.
Helplessly, I sit inside the safety of my moving shelter Anticipating the first drops to make their appearance. And my reward for lingering: the sky’s regret falls upon me, Drowning me dryly in its grievance.
The miniature waves roll down the windshield Enticing me with its constant ebb and flow. The drops make their solemn music on my car Finally coming to its stormy crescendo.
And as the waves go back to low tide After the gods have been crying all day, An urge wells up in me to step out And let the tears wash me away.
