DEF/RES Changes:
1. If your DEF is greater than your enemy's by at least 10 points, you do a flat 15% more damage due to your superior knowledge of defense being applied to get past enemy defense
Example: Kaeion attacks an enemy for 100 damage. Kaeion also has 20 more defense than this enemy. This means Kaeion does 115 damage total with this bonus.
2. If your RES is greater than your enemy's by at least 10 points, you do a flat 15% more damage with spells due to your superior knowledge of resistance being applied to get past enemy resistance
Example: Kaeion attacks an enemy with Rai Rom for 100 damage. Kaeion also has 20 more resistance than this enemy. This means Kaeion does 115 damage total with this bonus.
3. Spell users can now use their RES stat as a basis for Channeling, the magic equivalent of rapid attack. If you have more RES than your target, you can increase magical damage by the same way of rapid attacks.
Example: Ayliori casts a spell on a target and hits for 100 damage after initial calculations. Ayliori then has 150 RES while the enemy has 100 RES. Ayliori then increases damage by 50% (150-100 = 50%) meaning final damage is 150.
4. For every 100 points in RES/DEF, you gain 5% passive damage reduction for Magic/Physical damage respectively. If you have 200 defense, get hit for 100, that damage is reduced to 90. This bonus caps at 50%. Further, it does not add to any resistance added by other means.
Example: A character uses an ability to take half damage and has 1000 defense from other abilities. They do not have 100% resistance. Rather, the reduction is layered: 100 damage - 50% = 50 damage - 50% = 25 damage.
