The following is an explanation of how battles work:
Attacking/Spellcasting
The simplest aspect of battles is attacking the enemy. To calculate damage, multiply your ATK stat by 2 and subtract the enemy's DEF stat from this. The resulting number is the amount of damage dealt.
This concept applies similarly to casting magic spells: Multiply your INT stat by 2 and subtract the enemy's RES stat from this. The resulting number is the amount damage dealt. Also take into account your Wave element. If your Wave element is Blaze and you attack the enemy using a Fire-based spell, the total damage you deal to the enemy is increased by 10%. Damage dealt by magic spells can be FURTHER increased by taking the enemy's Wave element (if applicable) into account. If the enemy's Wave element is Ocean and you attack using a Fire-based spell, the total damage you deal to the enemy is increased by 10%.
Rapid Attack
Another useful boost to attack damage is the Rapid Attack. This is when you attack the enemy using your DEX stat.
First, calculate damage as instructed above. Then compare your DEX stat to the target's DEX. If your DEX is higher, you can further increase the damage you deal to the enemy. Let's say your DEX is 50 and the target's DEX is 40. 50 - 40 = 10. This difference in DEX is then converted to a percentage. 10 = 10%. Then you add this percentage to your overall damage. Whatever damage you deal to the enemy is increased by 10%. Simple, right?
Note 1: Rapid Attack is not calculated if player's DEX is lower than enemy's DEX.
Note 2: Rapid Attack applies only to regular attacks and skills, not spells or Rengekis.
Awakening Mode/Morale
Awakening Mode is a state in which the party's inner strength explodes, allowing for powerful attacks and spells.
Every time you attack the enemy, roll a five-sided dice.
[dice=5]
This determines how many Morale points you receive for that attack. (In this example, the attacker receives 3 Morale points for attacking.) Once you and your party have accumulated 50 Morale points, you immediately enter Awakening Mode.
There are three types of Awakening Modes:
Beast Awakening – Everyone's able to attack twice in succession.
Demon Awakening – Magic spells deal double damage at zero SP cost.
Divine Awakening* – All party members roll 3-sided dice.
––––––Dice roll average of 1-5: Swords Dance (number of party members x5000 = damage)
––––––Dice roll average of 6-10: Hellfire Quake (number of party members x7500 = damage)
––––––Dice roll average of 11+: Plasma Blade (number of party members x10000 = damage)
Note 1: Any Morale points unused in battle are carried over to the next battle. All unused Morale points are lost when the party gates out of the area.
Note 2: Rapid Attack and Overload are disabled during Awakening Mode.
*requires at least 5 party members
HP/SP Drain
Should you have a weapon equipped that has the HP or SP Drain add effect, roll a 5-sided dice after your attack. If a 2 or 4 is rolled, then 5% of your damage is returned as HP or SP as your weapon dictates.
Damage Limit
Depending on your EXP level, there is a set limit to how much damage you can deal in one turn. If you are between level 1 and 50, the maximum damage you can deal in one turn is 9,999. If you are between level 51 and 100, the maximum damage you can deal in one turn is 19,999. If you are between level 101 and 150, the maximum damage you can deal in one turn is 29,999. If you are between level 151 and 200, the maximum damage you can deal in one turn is 39,999. If you are between level 201 and 254, the maximum damage you can deal in one turn is 49,999. If you are at level 255, there is no limit to how much damage you can deal in one turn. NOTE: Damage limits are null and void when performing an Overload MAX.[rand=58535381357234330326467070683552691811089553250489736737713994664]
